Our Process
Development. Opportunity. Hope.
The iF Foundation process is simple, successful and lasting….
- The Foundation receives an invitation to come into a country and work with people in a local area
- The Foundation travels to that area and listens to the needs of its people
- The Foundation works towards fulfilling some of those needs, establishing a positive relationship with community leaders and the local population.
- If the community is receptive to our model, The Foundation hires educated, motivated, intelligent local leaders to head economic opportunity projects in the area
- These leaders meet with individuals and associations in the community to explore possible business plans and community partnerships
- Each group develops a business plan supervised by our Country Directors and in consultation with the Managing Director in our New York office.
- Each loan under consideration is reviewed until a sound “business plan” is developed
- If approved, a loan is granted and a new business created
- Once a business is firmly established, the no interest loan is repaid in minor installments and a community fund is established. The fund receives 10% of the business’ profits to be used for needs identified by the local community.
- After the loan is repaid, the money is recycled and loaned out again for a new business; enabling us to break the cycle of poverty in the areas where we work.
